SECOND STAR TO THE RIGHT

This project took place in a primary school for children with a range of additional needs and was in response to Hijinx Theatre's Second Star to the Right Production. Myself and my peers facilitated a 4 week project consisting of four sessions, exploring the themes of Peterpan and Neverland.

I created a Creative Access Resource for my participant to use in the final session which were 3 textile, tactile pillows designed to help aid the participant in engaging in purposeful interactions. My participant on placement had a hearing impairment and English was their second language. Their learning goals for their academic year was to improve their English in both speaking and reading. Due to their hearing impairment, the participant experienced much difficulty in understanding people and communicating verbally with them. It was with this in mind that the pillows aimed to offer this participant the opportunity to commuicate and engage in the session more effectively.
